Dunkin’ Donuts
Almost thirty years after a young couple broke up at a Dunkin’ Donuts in Massachusetts, they got married at the same venue. It might not be the most glamorous place to hold a wedding, with celebrities getting married everywhere from Italy to Los Angeles, but it held a special meaning for this Massachusetts couple.
It had been a long journey back to the venue. Valerie Sneade and Jason Roy ended their relationship way back in 1992 despite being in-love, and had spent the next 25 years forging their own, separate lives. Both Sneade and Roy married in the time since, Roy having three children and joining the Navy, while Sneade got into singing and acting.
They ended up back in touch almost two years ago in February 2018, as Sneade was performing a revue – Roy found out and got front-row seats at the event. Sneade saw him as she performed, and they hit it off again from there. Sneade moved back to Massachusetts a few months later, and Roy then proposed on New Year’s Eve 2018. Obviously, Sneade said yes and they spent the next year planning and organising the wedding before tying the knot on Friday 27th December, just a couple of days after Christmas.
New start
Before relocating back in Massachusetts, Sneade was living in Florida and only visited her home state sporadically, sometimes for work, which was of course how the couple ended up reuniting. Perhaps unsurprisingly, the wedding was rather unconventional. Although the event was attended by family and friends as expected, customers were also present, and buying food as they celebrated the occasion.
And where else could the wedding really be? As Roy said, “It had to happen here.” while Sneade, who then took the surname Roy, joked that the newlyweds might be starting a trend. It’s probably the final weird wedding moment of 2019. Just a month ago, a man lost his wedding ring on a mountain in New Hampshire but they were miraculously found by a pair of hikers.
