Hello, Geektimes! The promised, they say, three years are waiting, but not in the case of Xiaomi – today the company has finally unveiled its new flagship smartphone, which received the expected name Mi 6. What came of it and did the rumors prove true? Let’s understand under the cut.


Novelty, as expected, turned out to be a kind of “picking hodgepodge” from smartphones from other manufacturers, although in Xiaomi managed to release something and something exclusive. For example, in Mi 6, the company managed to realize a twofold optical zoom without loss of quality due to two cameras – wide-angle and telephoto, both with a resolution of 12 megapixels. Well, a flash and a 10x digital zoom with a four-axis optical image stabilization system, of course, also come with the kit.

That we started a little from the wrong (and where is the vaunted design of Xiaomi ?!), but it so happened that the camera became one of the main chips of the smartphone Mi 6. By design we have a device with glass front and back panels (somewhere now one IPhone 4s), the edges of the glass are neatly rounded to all faces. Under the glass was a fingerprint scanner, on the ends – a USB Type-C port, speakers, as well as symmetrically located volume change keys and a SIM card slot.

Pro display should be discussed separately. The screen diagonal is 5.15 inches, the resolution is honest Full HD. The maximum brightness is 600 nits, and thanks to the reduced brightness function it can be reduced up to 1 nit. For reading in the darkness it is. In general, the Mi 6 display pleasantly surprises: 94.4% NTSC color rendition, 4,096 levels of brightness adjustment, support for a special technology to reduce the blue spectrum of radiation, which is less harmful to the eyes. Of the useful additions – stereo speakers, 2×2 Dual Wi-Fi, 4G +, NFC and almost 2GHz, it’s still a bit of a bunch of things to do, but it’s not a good idea to do it. ”
