DJ Khaled
Bless up, people. After months of teasing its arrival, the first single from DJ Khaled ’s forthcoming “Grateful Album” (due for release on May 19) has arrived early this morning.
Called “I’m the One,” the single features musical heavy hitters including Justin Bieber, Chance the Rapper, Lil Wayne, Migos and Quavo.
The DJ announced the arrival last night, with a sneak peak at the video’s set and cast.
The song opens with a busty woman on a horse and includes what you might expect: booty poppin’, booze and his baby, Asahd Tuck Khaled, in his executive producer chair.
The lyrics go from easy listening, sung by Bieber (Yeah, you’re lookin’ at the truth, the money never lie no/I’m the one, yeah, I’m the one/Early mornin’ in the dawn, know you wanna ride now) to polarizing, sung by Lil Wayne (Don’t make me catch a body, that’s for any and everybody/Oh my God! She hit me up all day, give no response/Bitch, you blow my high, that’s like turning gold to bronze/Roll my eyes/And when she on the molly she a zombie/She think we Clyde and Bonnie, but it’s more like Whitney Bobby).
But is it sure to be a summer hit? Well, it’s already number one on iTunes’s overall charts. Khaled—a producer/record label exec/radio personality—is the man behind many top singles, from “All I Do Is Win” (featuring T-Pain, Ludacris, Rick Ross and Snoop Dog) to “I Wanna Be With You” (Nicki Minaj and Rick Ross) to “I Got the Keys” (featuring Jay-Z and Future).
Other artists who are said to have collaborated with Khaled on the album include Drake, Rihanna, Nas and Nicki Minaj, among other artists.
