Intel
Today it became known that Intel Corporation is not going to hold an annual event that has become traditional: a forum for IDF developers. For the first time Intel held this forum 20 years ago, in 1997. At that time Intel Developer Forum (IDF) had a relatively small scale. The first time he was held in Palm Springs (California, USA), then transferred to San Francisco. In addition, the forum was held at other times in other countries and cities, including Tokyo, Beijing, Moscow.
Every year, IDF gathered a large number of technical experts who discussed Intel products and developments that somehow related to the corporation. Sometimes Intel presented some novelties that they considered important. Now, according to company representatives, it’s time to cancel IDF, since all the efforts of employees are aimed at developing new markets that are not related to “hardware”. Therefore, the very format of the forum is not suitable for the presentation of most new Intel products.
Representatives of the company declare that instead of IDF, other events will most likely be held, their spectrum will be expanded, but the subject matter, on the contrary, is narrowed. But what exactly this will be for the events, is not reported.
“Probably when it comes to Intel, you imagine a company that produces processors for desktops, laptops and servers. But we must not stop there. Our team includes inventors, researchers, who move the world forward. Over the past few years, the company has turned into a major international provider of solutions for data centers and hundreds of millions of “smart” devices. We are making new products on the edge of the possibilities of modern technologies, providing assistance to companies and individuals in the movement to new heights, “- says the appeal of Intel.
This year the IDF forum was to be held in San Francisco. But on the page of the event, you can now see a confirmation of the cancellation of this and all IDF forums in the future.
As for information on Intel products, the company stated the following: “Intel has plenty of resources available including the Resource and Design Center with documentation, software and tools for designers, engineers and developers . As usual, our customers, partners and developers can ask questions to representatives of Intel. ”
Unfortunately, the company’s web resources can not always become a full-fledged replacement for direct communication with the creators of chips and other products from IDF. But, apparently, nothing can be done already – the forum is canceled and the corporation is not going to reconsider its decision.
