It wasn’t a good day for Carolyne, as she had not only been in the field most of the day, which means her legs were numb, but she had also been rained on. Fieldwork should normally take 2-3 hours, but it wasn’t that easy considering that the weather was acting up. Of course, being rained on wasn’t funny, Caroline and Ben, her colleague decided to take shelter at a dingy hotel.
The hotel at least sheltered them from the rain, but there was another problem, the waitresses were all over them like flies. It’s quite strange to get into a hotel and not order anything. They had one choice, to walk back into the heavy rains, or just order some food like any other client. But this hotel was so dingy, they didn’t even trust the dishes.
They tried ordering safer food, like bread, pastries, cereals, but none was available. Eventually, they ended up taking beans; boiled beans and rice. It didn’t taste good, but they stayed dry for the two straight hours that it rained.
A bigger problem. Carolyne’s husband started calling relentlessly at exactly 5 pm, when they leave the office, asking her to rush home, there was something important to discuss. This would have increased her heart rate, but Tommy, her husband, sounded excited. She had just arrived at the office 30 minutes earlier, and now because her husband was calling relentlessly, she had to rush home, 15 minutes away.
It began when she reached the first shop near her office, and she released a loud fart when she was sure nobody was at earshot. Few steps later, she had to, another fart. However, the more she farted, the more bloated she felt, she didn’t feel any relief. This continued until she reached home. She couldn’t wait to get to the toilet, it was going to be war, she could feel it. A little problem, her husband stopped her at the door and told her to close her eyes, it was a surprise.
He led her to the house with her eyes shut, ensuring that she wasn’t peeping. He then made her sit and asked her to wait, she was going to bring something from the bedroom, upstairs.
She took the opportunity to relieve her bloating. Sitting on one butt, she released a long fart, it smelled of stale beans. Then she released a louder one, it sounded like an atomic bomb. Her bloating was still so bad, so she released a long, stinky one, that reminded her of boiled cabbages. The next ones came in short sequences, but still stunk like a carcass. That’s when she heard her husband open the bedroom door upstairs, to indicate his return. She quickly fans around her to clear the air. She fanned so vigorously.
“Were you a good girl or you peeped?” Her husband asked when he finally joined her.
“I haven’t peeped a bit.”
“Okay, open your eyes!” Her husband said.
“HAPPY BIRTHDAY CARO!” Chorused her friends, neighbors and seven cousins.
