John Lennon
The latest weird conspiracy theory doing the rounds is that former member of the Beatles John Lennon is actually. He was killed in Manhattan just over 39 years ago exactly by his fan, Mark David Chapman, outside his apartment. In the almost 40 years since his death, it’s been almost universally accepted that Lennon is actually dead, but some people actually disagree.
A lookalike, Mark Staycer, has been thought to be John Lennon himself. The reasoning seems pretty baseless; Staycer apparently has the same Liverpudlian accent as Lennon, and looks similar with his hair and glasses. He even played the music legend in ‘Let Him Be’, a film about his life and career.
As he bears something of an uncanny resemblance to Lennon, some fans have suggested that they are actually one and the same. A video of Staycer performing has been seen almost 200,000 times online, and the comments are rife with fans claiming it’s actually John Lennon in the footage.
If Lennon was alive today, he’d be 79 years old, and probably not doing the sort of activities Staycer is. Conspiracy theories will always be popular with fans of celebrities, but this one doesn’t seem to have much basis in reality, despite what proponents of the theory believe.
No parole for
Chapman
Back in 2010, Lennon’s widow Yoko Ono was against parole for Mark David Chapman. Chapman said that he was ashamed for killing Lennon, and had changed, but Ono saw Chapman as a danger – either to her, Lennon’s family, or himself.
John Lennon isn’t the only celebrity to be the subject of conspiracy theories either. Recently, the rapper Eminem was thought by some conspiracists to have died in a car crash in 2016 and replaced by a clone. Despite these rumors, it seems clear that while John Lennon is certainly dead, Eminem iis very much alive. What do you think about these conspiracy theories? Could there be any element of truth in them, or are they all completely outlandish? If you have any strong thoughts either way, let us know!
