Deez-Nuts : A Wisconsin man faces charges of using a deadly weapon, along with misdemeanor battery and disorderly conduct, but what makes this case stand out is his name.
The 42-year-old suspect, Deez-Nuts Lee Kroll, was arrested on March 5 after an incident involving a gun, according to CBS Green Bay affiliate WFRV TV.
Police say Kroll’s daughter and her boyfriend were put into a squad car before Kroll’s arrest. They had reportedly argued with Kroll over the phone earlier that evening about household chores and caring for the family’s puppies.
When the couple arrived at the residence two hours later, they found it locked. They knocked repeatedly, and Kroll eventually opened the door, allegedly punching his daughter in the shoulder and later threatening them with a BB gun that resembled a pistol.
Deez-Nuts, described in a criminal complaint as “highly intoxicated,” was taken into custody shirtless. During the police interview, he reportedly kept “talking in circles.”
Kroll was charged with misdemeanor battery, misdemeanor disorderly conduct, and use of a dangerous weapon. If convicted, he could face a year in jail. He was released on a $1,000 bond and is due in court on April 24.

According to The Smoking Gun, Kroll legally changed his first name from “Derrick” to “Dez-Nuts” in 2011, later adding another “e.”

The term gained popularity in 2015 when a 15-year-old Iowa native, Brady Olson, ran for president under the name and polled surprisingly well compared to major candidates like Hillary Clinton, Bernie Sanders, and Donald Trump, despite being a joke candidacy.
