Though Kim Kardashian is the mother of Saint (West) and the wife of Yeezus, most people would have a hard time comparing the 36-year-old reality TV star to any biblical figure. However, for reasons beyond our understanding other than wanting to start some kontroversy, Kim has taken it upon herself to transform into the Virgin Mary.
This persona was unveiled on April 20, as part of Kim’s newest Kimoji collection. It was used to promo Kimoji’s “4:20 drop,” which featured marijuana-themed emojis and matching merch.
A Kim the Virgin Mary prayer candle was also released, which, according to Kimoji’s Instagram, is almost sold out.
Despite the candle sales, many people were upset with the “sacrilegious” imagery.
“This is a disgrace you’re trying to make money from our faith. No you aren’t a virgin no Kanye is not a god. Are you trying to start your own religion? 100% disrespect,” commented one fan.
“Kim how dare you, you are claiming yourself as a Christian but yet you’re comparing yourself to our Virgin Mother Mary,” wrote another.
There was plenty of criticism from the Twitterverse, too.
Too add to the ~drama~, Kim stepped out in a sheer Dolce & Gabbana dress with a picture of the Virgin Mary between her breasts on Thursday. The choice of ensemble was condemned by the Catholic league, who called it an “exploitative,” “headline-grabbing stunt.”
“We’ve never seen any indication that Kim Kardashian venerates the Blessed Virgin Mary” the group said in a statement, referring to the mother-of-two as a “former porn star,” according to Page Six.
This isn’t the only controversy Kim has found herself in this week. She also came under fire for calling the flu an “amazing diet” on Twitter. The tweet was later taken down, but a photo of a slimmed-down Kim (who supposedly lost six pounds from her ailment), with the caption “flu got me like…” still remains.
